Wholemeal Seeded Soda Bread

We’ve upped the fibre of this easy loaf with wholemeal flour and a few scoops of MWELL, and the power-packed sunflower seeds give the crust an extra tasty crunch. 

Makes: 6-8 servings
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes


  • 200g Whole wheat flour
  • 275g Plain Flour
  • 280 ml water
  • 1 Tsp bicarbonate of soda 15g
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 130g Sunflower Seeds
  • 6 Tbsp MWELL Microbiome Powder


Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 200 C

Step 2:

In a large bowl, mix the whole-wheat flour with the sieved plain flour, add the bicarbonate of soda and the salt.

Step 3:

Add 100g of the sunflower seeds, the MWELL powder & the water.

Step 4:

Mix till you get a soft dough.

Step 5:

Turn out onto a floured surface and knead till the mixture is smooth.

Step 6:

Shape into a round loaf and cut a cross over the top then pour over the rest of the sunflower seeds.

Step 7:

Let it rest for 20 mins 

Step 8:

Bake on a lightly floured baking tin for 40 minutes. When it's ready, it will sound hollow if tapped on the base.

Step 9:

Let rest for 30 minutes before cutting.

Step 10:

Cover with a clean damp tea towel if a soft crust is desired.
